London: Historic City Walking Tour(& Rooftop Garden Access*)
London’s oldest quarter is also its most surprising. In three hours, this walk carries you from the Roman City boundary at Temple through medieval lanes, St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Bank of England, London Bridge, and the Tower of London. You get old pubs and wartime scars alongside the glassy towers of modern London. The route connects the city’s past and present instead of treating famous sights as isolated photo stops.
I like the way the walk gets you into streets you could easily miss on your own, especially around Dr Johnson’s House, St Bride’s Church, and Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese. I also like the final rooftop visit on Sundays and Mondays, when Garden at 120 gives you a useful bird’s-eye view of the places you have just crossed. The main consideration is pace: three hours and many stops mean plenty of walking, with little time for extended visits inside major attractions.
